Black Mountains Smokery is a multi-award winning gourmet food business based in Crickhowell, South Wales, in the heart of the Black Mountains. Propona were approached to develop a website that not only provided all the necessary eCommerce facilities to allow Black Mountains Smokery to trade effectively online but that could effectively manage their entire production, order and shipping processes for online, telephone and 'walk in' orders.
The website was completed in time for the Christmas festive rush and continues to support the business on a daily basis.

Systems to support the collation, aggregation and broadcast of data relating to the local elections of Northern Ireland and Wales in 2007 |
Propona have been working with Cat and Mouse for several years and have provided them with a number of software solutions during this time. These projects include the provision of software for the BBC's election coverage in 2005 and 2007.
Propona provided a suite of complex applications for use during the BBC’s live local election coverage both in Northern Ireland and Wales. Building on the successes of a similar project in 2005, Propona supplied software to manage the raw data entry and calculation of election results for BBC Northern Ireland’s coverage of the Northern Ireland Local Elections. The data entry system allowed multiple operators to enter results concurrently while the sophisticated calculationengine provided real time data to an on air graphics system for the live BBC television coverage and to BBC Online simultaneously .
In addition, Propona provided a “state of the election” results web site for internal BBC use which reported voting data broken down by constituency, party and candidate. The site also looked for interesting voting trends such as votes moving away from traditional parties.
An administration web site was also supplied to allow BBC staff to enter details of all constituencies, candidates (with their images) and parties running in the elections and to review data from the last election to ensure that swing and change statistics would be calculated correctly.

Careers Wales provide career guidance to young people and are required to perform a yearly self-assessment quality audit in accordance with the Estyn framework.
In the past this audit has been a paper-based affair with a great deal of time and effort required to compile, collate and edit all of the evidence that supports the quality self-assessment goal. Propona were hired to design an intranet system that would take this process online and so a fully bespoke system was built which included support for multiple application roles, document and evidence management facilities and extensive reporting and exporting functionality based on the gathered data.

Design Wales provides design support for individual Welsh businesses and undertakes a wide range of activities to encourage and develop the use of design in Welsh industry and education. They approached Propona to develop a site for use as a resource for industry, education and individuals interested in finding out more about design.
The site was implemented using our Pro:CMS product to meet the requirements for a multi-lingual site and support for multiple users/ roles with a sophisticated workflow and content approval process.

Epsilon Events specialise in the production and management of EU policy and legislation related events. Epsilon have three distinct but complementary service offerings: Conference Production, Event Management and Public Affairs and Media Training.
Epsilon Events commissioned Propona to redevelop their website from the ground up. The key requirements for Epsilon were that the site must be easy and quick to update and give them complete control to change any of the content on the site. The resulting Pro:CMS Lite implementation including a large array of features including:
- RSS news extension
- User Registration
- Website Statistics Package
- Press Opportunities - allowing members of the press to register on the site
- Purchase Proceedings - allowing users to a purchase order for event proceedings

Harman Becker are a manufacturing company in Bridgend, Wales that produce audio speakers for the automotive industry. The company operates ten production lines and speaker assembly is rigorously documented using sets of “control plans” which detail every stage of the process.
Harman Becker commissioned Propona to develop a complex SQL Server 2005 database to manage both the control plans and the skills of their employees.

Development of a data import engine to transform and consolidate data from disparate sources into a common format for subsequent reporting |
A spinout of the the University of Glamorgan, RUMM provides state of the art energy management for business customers. The company installs meters at the client's site which measure energy and production data and send this information to a central database ready for processing. Careful analysis and monitoring of this data allows RUMM to save some customers up to 20% on their total energy bills.
Propona have been working with RUMM for a number of years and during this time have provided them with a range of technical services. The first project Propona worked on for RUMM was to provide a high volume and flexible data upload mechanism for an existing web application. A case study on this project can be found here.
Propona are currently working with RUMM to redevelop the core data import engine that is central to it's business. This project will cover the full Project Lifecycle and the solution will be implemented in the core technologies of .NET and SQL Server 2005 with extensive use of SQL Server Reporting Services. |
