Project Description
The primary output of this project for the BBC was a system that would support the vote counting process and subsequent generation of rolled up statistics and content for BBC Online and BBC TV during the results announcements after the NI local elections in May 2005. This was achieved via an Intranet web application.
This information from the system was delivered simultaneously to both BBC Online and directly to the real time On-Air graphics systems used during live BBC transmissions.
The primary benefit for the end customer was the automated reporting on the progress of the election in real-time that the system delivered in conjunction with the solution as a whole. This enabled presenters, producers and journalist to make informed decisions based on the exact situation across the region.
