System Testing of an existing certificate printing application
Project Description
DSSL (a sub-division of AST) had engaged the services of another software development company in 2007 to develop a certificate printing software application. Their initial interest in Propona’s services was two-pronged: providing both system testing of the existing product and 3rd line support.
Propona refers to any services provided to clients outside of the auspices of the full software development project lifecycle as Consultancy. In this case a System Testing service was provided. Ideally System Testing is black box (based purely on results from the User Interface rather than on digging into code) and based on the project's Detailed Requirements Specification document. In this situation the documentation was poor and was augmented with both interpolated requirements and further information from DSSL, including some elements of white box testing specifically around security, performance and scalability. The deliverable from the project was the System Testing Plan and Results document, which was augmented to include Propona's recommendations for further work on the product in this instance.
DSSL subsequently returned to Propona for several other projects, including the redevelopment and extension of the core application.
